I am Sophie Le Doré, a French Chef expatriate living in Northern California. I began my culinary career as a journalist for France Inter (the French National Radio) in Paris and for a well-known culinary TV show, Fourchette et Sac à Dos. Before trading the writing pen for the chef’s knife, I authored the cookbook Ce que nous devons savoir sur la pomme de terre” (What you need to know about the potato). My first professional kitchen experience was spent at one-star Michelin restaurant, La Grande Cascade in Paris.
I am passionate about food and the culinary experience. My favorites include many international dishes, especially Italian and Asian. I am always looking for new recipes to test, however French cuisine remains a reference for me. I place great importance on well-balanced meals and quality ingredients. I support environmental, human, and community health. I see the value in understanding the importance of the food you eat and where it comes from. I advocate the use of fresh, local and, whenever possible, organic ingredients. Last, but not least, I believe in the value of good service and attention to detail.
