Rancho Torales was established in 1997 by Joy and Sandy Severin, he an eye surgeon, she an artist. The rancho is dedicated to a reverence for the beauty, the serenity, and the natural environment of the foothill of California's Sierra Nevada. Our olive groves are planted in Tuscan olive trees, Frantoio and Leccino, which are cultivated for the fine oil and produce a disctinctly flavored table olive. The soil, ranfall, sunlight, and altitude are similar to the Tuscan region of Italy, and aid in creating the superior quality of our olives. Sonora Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be found in specialty markets and stores in the Sierra Foothills as well as in select stores in the San Francisco Bay Area and St. Louis, Missouri. The oil is available in three sizes: 150 ml, 350 ml, and 500 ml. bottles.

Joy and husband Sandy began the ranch in 1997, with the purchase of land in Sonora, CA. Rancho Torales was established with the goal of planting superior quality Tuscan olive trees and French Lavender (Grosso). Joy was born in St. Louis,Missouri and spent her youth enjoying her uncle's farm in the Ozark region of the state. She has had a varied career as a model, a dancer, a radio show producer, and a painter. Dr. Sandy Severin is a practicing eye surgeon, born and raised in Cleveland Ohio. They divide their time between their ranch and his private medical practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her love of the land led the couple to create a setting to plant their olive orchards and lavender fields. Both of their product lines reflect their dedication to the land and creating products that have considerable health benefits. Along these lines, Dr. Severin has written a book promoting good health and wellness. He is among the forerunners in the area of health maintenance and preventive health care.
