OLIVEMA

Olivéma is an established Greek cultivator and producer of a very first class olive oil coming from the most Southerly island of the Greek archipelago, Crete. The company stems from a family tradition which hands down knowledge and experience together with passion and intrigue for olive tree nurturing from one generation of the Tzotzolakis family to the next.

Olivéma’s groves are situated in the valleys surrounding the White Mountain region in South-West Crete, not far from the major city and port of Hania. They yield top quality oil, thanks to a combination of factors: 1. The altitude of the groves is 400metres above sea level, allowing the olive trees to take maximum advantage of calcareous soils and mineral-rich sea and mountain breezes, resulting from the climatic circumstances and topographical traits of this part of the island. 2. The cultivation and harvesting techniques that we endorse influence the final quality of the oil produced. We are very strong supporters of the traditional and natural methods used by our forefathers. Indeed it is thanks to our wholesome and non-industrialized ways that our extra virgin olive oil has received the prestigious award and certification of P.G.I. from the European Union. This certifies authentication and is a recognition of the effort and skill inherent in our farming techniques. 3. The strict and swift oil extraction procedure we follow ensuring that the entire cold press and centrifugion process is conducted within 24 hours of the olives being picked from the trees. Half of the country’s olive oil comes from the island of Crete, home to over 30 million olive trees, some of which are more than a thousand years old.
