Olio Nuevo
Located in the heart of the California Central Coast's wine country, Olio Nuevo is an artisan-crafted, boutique producer of award winning extra virgin olive oils. |
||
With an emphasis on sustainable farming methods, the 3,700 tree orchard has been in production since 2005 and features the Spanish varietals of Arbequina, Mission, and Manzanillo olive trees. Olio Nuevo's olives are estate grown, hand-picked, custom milled, and hand-bottled in small quantities to preserve quality and freshness. The harvest date and date of bottling is shown on each bottle. Olio Nuevo is certified extra virgin by the California Olive Oil Council. Olio Nuevo products can be found at all We Olive stores and numerous wineries and specialty food stores in the Central Coast region. |

Grower and/or Producer
We grow olive trees | ||
Planted in 2003, our orchard includes nearly 3,700 trees -- arbequina, mission, and manzinillo -- all of which are Spanish varietals. We focus on sustainable farming methods, including almost 100% utilization of solar energy and the application of organic fertilizers. |
||
We produce olive oil | ||
Using a local, state-of-the-art olive mill, our fruit is custom milled within hours of picking. We hand-pick our fruit to maintain the highest quality possible and match the size of our crew to the small, half-ton per hour capacity of the mill. Olio Nuevo is cold-pressed, unfiltered, and certified as an EVOO annually by the California Olive Oil Council. |
Tours and/or Tasting Bar
We provide tours of our facilities
We also breed alpaca with an average herd size of between 25 and 35 animals (www.alpacasofcripplecreek.com). The tour educates visitors about the synergy between olives and alpaca with a comprehensive introduction to both. Farm tours are by appointment only. Call 805 423-2341. |
||
We have a tasting bar | ||
In depth tastings of Olio Nuevo, paired with a selection of locally produced vinegars, is the highlight of our farm tours. Tastings are done in the "barrel room" equivalent of our orchard operations. A small farm boutique showcases both alpaca and Olio Nuevo products. |

Art and Lynn Kishiyama moved to the Central Coast of California in 2002 in search of a life-style far from the big cities. They found their dream in the Paso Robles wine country. Their home and farm are 19 acres of paradise amongst the rolling hills and live oaks that comprise much of the Central Coast. Art grew up in the area and is a graduate of the Cal Poly School of Architecture. In his first 26-year career, he retired as a Colonel in the US Air Force. Art's second career was 15 years with Walt Disney Imagineering, creating and building international theme parks. Lynn is from Livermore and is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and the University of Santa Monica. She is an accomplished artist specializing in collages and abstracts featuring hand-made papers of extraordinary colors and textures. Her artwork is a feature on bottles of Olio Nuevo and she is the "signature artist" for all We Olive stores. |
