Dickson Napa Ranch

The Dickson Napa Ranch is located in the hills at the southern gateway to the Napa Valley. In 2000 the Dicksons planted imported Taggiasca olive trees from Liguria , Italy producing the Regina EVOO that has received many awards including the Alma Trophy at the third Armonia International Olive Oil competition in Spoleto , Italy.

The Dickson Napa ranch is located in the Southern reaches of the Napa Valley about forty miles from San Francisco. From the Dickson hills there are spectacular views of Mt. Tamalpais resting on San Pablo Bay. The Napa terroir cultivates the very special fruit that produces Regina Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Before Richard and Lillian Dickson planted their Taggiasca olive trees, the land had only been used for cattle grazing by Lillian's grandfather , M.C.Almada, who came to Napa in 1888. In 2000 the Dicksons imported the trees from Liguria , Italy , where the Taggiasca cultivar was developed in around 1100 by the Benedictine Monks at their monastery in Taggia. Arriving in four inch pots , the trees have adjusted well to their new hillside home and produce olive oil unique to Napa, yet preserving its Taggiasca character. In late November when the olives are a mix of green, purple and black, they are harvested by hand and rushed to the mill. The oil is stored in stainless steel vats with controlled temperature and light to preserve its freshness and award -winning quality. Regina EVOO is the winner of the ALMA trophy at the Third International ARMONIA Olive oil Competition held in Spoleto, Italy.
