Founded July 1, 2009 in Tokyo Japan, the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan, aka OSAJ, is a comprehensive olive oil school and research center. There is a related promotional aspect "Olive Japan" which brings olive oil direction to the consumer. Please see separate listing for OLIVE JAPAN.
A comprehensive olive oil training program taught in Japanese language for Japanese people. Courses include history, culinary, health, chemistry, sensory evaluation, agronomy, milling, marketing and other aspects of olive oil. Course level certificates available for Junior Sommelier Program completion; Sommelier Program completion; Master Sommelier Program Completion as well as more casual classes for the public. Study tours of producing regions in Japan and abroad, language, culinary and other cultural programs are offered. The OSAJ sponsors and is the organizer of the annual OLIVE JAPAN competition, marché, symposium and concourse events in Japan each Spring.

Chairman and Founder
Toshiya Tada is a trained tea master with decades of study in the art and appreciation of tea as well as an olive oil specialist with a strong foundation in business. His background includes time as a fund manager for JP Morgan in New York and Tokyo; a general manager for Nishimoto Trading; a director with Ohmae Inc.; a president of Idea Factory consultancy before establishing the Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan.
