Georgia Olive Farms

Georgia Olive Farms conducted the first olive harvest east of the Mississippi, near Lakeland, Georgia, in 2011 and established the first commercial olive mill east of the Mississippi in 2013. GOF sells extra virgin olive oil, offers turnkey olive orchard installation and management and custom harvesting.

In 2009, Jason Shaw, his brother Sam Shaw and cousin Kevin Shaw planted 20 acres of super high density olive trees on their farm near Lakeland, Georgia. They teamed with friend Berrien Sutton to form Georgia Olive Farms to market the EVOO. In 2011, the first commercial harvest of olives occurred east of the Mississippi since the 1800's wihen olives were harvested along the Georgia coast. The harvest received international press due to the fact that many thought that olive oil could not be commercially produced east of the Mississippi. An olive growers association was formed and GOF continues to lead in development of the olive oil industry in the South. A state of the art olive processing mill was constructed in 2013 and a state of the art olive harvester was purchased in 2013. Chef's on the east coast have supported GOF and welcome production on the east coast. GOF works with producers west of the Mississippi to curb the import of defective and mislabeled olive oil. GOF welcomes new growers in the South and works with the Georgia Olive Growers Association to share knowledge and information. An annual event is held each September around harvest time where current and potential growers can learn about olive oil production in the South and observe harvest and milling operations.
