Join Orchard Manager, Shari DeJoseph and Nursery and Vineyard Manager, Samantha Dorsey at McEvoy Ranch for a workshop that will answer your questions relating to the execution of a successful olive harvest. This event will be most beneficial for novice producers and serious hobbyists
The morning lecture will highlight considerations and activities for the months prior to harvest, including irrigation, fertilization, crop movement, how to evaluate when your fruit is ready to be harvested and which fruit is too damaged to process. We will discuss how to time your harvest for different flavor profiles, harvesting techniques and some equipment options available to you. We will also address the question of curing olives for the table vs. milling them into oil, and, if you tend towards the latter, tips for mill communications. Finally, we will venture into the orchards to take a peek at the progress of our own olives.
