Inclination (Pruning Terminology):

Altering the angle of the axis of a shoot or branch. Inclination is used to slow down the growth of the main axis, and to stimulate flower bud development and the rise of vegetative buds and shoots in the proximal part of the inclined structure. In olives, inclination should be used carefully because it induces vigorous growth of basal shoots on the upper side of the branch.
